As a financial institution, Ramsey National Bank & Trust Co. of Devils Lake has a long and proud history. The bank was chartered in 1892 as Ramsey County State Bank and by 1901 it had become a National Bank. During the days of financial crisis in the United States, the bank remained open and grew stronger. In 1972, with the addition of a Trust Department, new avenues of financial services became available. To service other communities, branch locations were opened in Maddock, Esmond and Fargo. The bank merged with its savings and loan affiliate, Ramsey Bank, fsb, in the year 2000 and thereby extended financial services to the communities of Cando, Rugby and Cavalier. We are pleased to announce that in December of 2007, the employees of Ramsey National Bank & Trust Co. purchased the controlling interest in the bank from the Hoghaug family. This purchase allows us to remain under local ownership and to further meet the needs of our customers.
